This is the home page of the Dandenong
Ranges Music Council Incorporated, an arts organisation
located in the foothills of the Dandenong Ranges, east of Melbourne.
The DRMC has been funding, facilitating and teaching community
music for over thirty years. The Dandenong Ranges Music Council
Inc. is assisted by Arts Victoria and the Yarra Ranges
Council.
DRMC Chairperson Norma Durrand says:
Community music is for everyone, beginner
to professional. It enriches our lives and gives us opportunities locally to sing, play, perform,
jam, create and listen.
The DRMC wants to hear from musicians, composers, community groups, schools and individuals about new music ideas and projects for 2013. Does the community need a composers' collective, a hurey gurdey orchestra or even a kerosene tin percussion group? Perhaps there are hidden bassoons, oboes and cor anglais players just waiting for an opportunity. Tell us at drmc.org.au or phone: Mondays, Tuesdays or Wednesdays 9754 6566
RECONNECT and REFLECT thru MUSIC Project (RRTM) 2011
The Reconnect and Reflect through music activities came to a fitting crescendo on Saturday 24th September at the Yarra Glen Racing Club, Yarraview Room.
It was an ealy start to the day for all participants with rehearsals and sound checks and then a sumptuous lunch was provided by Healesville Salvation Army for 80 people (Big Thanks to the lunch army).
The day was something of a huge picnic, social extravaganza and musically filled adventure for all ages. Thanks must go to John and Moya for their patience, direction and encouragement with all our community singers and spokes people. The day went off swimmingly with all 11 new songs (written at our Reconnect activity groups) premiered before an adoring audience.
Congratulations to all our Reconnect participants and supporters and Onwards and Upwards!
