Creative Victoria will fund the development and choral arrangement of the 'Bells of Peace' song originally commissioned by the Dandenong Ranges Music Council for the ANZAC Centenary in 2015. The grant will also provide for the transposing of the music and software programming so the song can be played on the Federation Bells at Birrarung Marr and the Federation Bells app.
Minister for Creative Industries, Martin Foley and Minister for Education, James Merlino attended the Dandenong Ranges Music Council (DRMC) to announce the grant of $45000. The song was inspired by the story of Dame Nellie Melba ringing the Lilydale CFA bell to announce that the world was at peace in 1918 at the end of WW1.
The creative development of the Bells of Peace is supported by the Victorian Government through Creative Victoria.
